Why should i care?

     Rootwire is a grassroots music and ARTS festival. In our travels we have seen festivals talk about other forms of art but the emphasis is ALWAYS weighted, the ideals are skewed, and the message is ultimately lost. Rootwire is not a field party. It is a celebration of art and the people who make it, no matter what shape or form it comes in. It is a place to inspire and get inspired. It is an open canvas, an open mic, an open stage for an open mind.

Green Initiatives

Many festivals talk big game about protecting the environment and staying green but lets face it, festivals by nature are not inherently friendly to the environment. However, Rootwire is committed to minimize the mark made on the land and the earth.

FIrst of all, the festival itself is a football field away from a recycling center. Our trash will be sorted and everyone through the gate will receive recycling bags they can sort their own waste into and we can then literally shuttle it over to the center for processing!

There is clean water available all over the festival grounds. So we encourage you not to bring disposable kitchen wares such as paper plates, plastic silverware, solo cups, or styrofoam coolers as you can simply wash and reuse your cups and plates as you need them. Don't forget, a frisbee can double for a plate any day!

All of our festivals physical promotion materials will be supplemented with a carbon offset system, and all printed materials will be at least 30 % pcw, using all soy and veggie based inks, utilizing a 100% biodegradable water based coating for the flyers.
